Wood Burning Stoves
Wood stoves have top air controls to provide a top-down draught while your fuel is burnt on a solid floor. This enables you to scoop ash out of the firebox manually, leaving a layer in the bottom as wood sits well in an ash bed.
Multifuel Stoves
Multifuel stoves usually have a grate, a separate ashpan, and sometimes an external riddler. This is because coal doesn’t burn well in a bonfire and may congeal into a quite unpleasant mess. With top and bottom air controls and the aforementioned accessories, these stoves are up to £150 more expensive than wood stoves but offer much more space for fuel and flames.

Stove installations usually take a day, but more extensive work, including removing old open fires, fireplaces, or gas fires, usually takes an extra day to allow for any re-building and plastering work required.
