Wondering if it’s time to have your chimney or heating appliance swept? At Stove Serve, we provide comprehensive appliance sweeping and servicing for domestic customers throughout Surrey. It is essential to sweep your appliances regularly to keep them working safely and efficiently and prevent chimney fires. Our experienced team will provide a certificate of a completed sweep with every service. Get in touch today for more details.
Most stove manufacturers measure stove size in kilowatts, (KW) and we provide free surveys that take all of the above measures into consideration before providing you with an accurate guide number. For a rough guide, measure your room in metres and then use the formula below:
Kw Output = Length (m) x Width (m) x Height (m) / 14
Replacing Gas Stoves
When you take out a gas fire, you must remove the gas liner and replace it with a solid fuel liner of 316 or greater. Gas liner steel will not withstand the temperatures of a flue coming from a wood burner or solid fuel stove, which is why our experienced team carry out all removals and replacements to the highest possible standard.
There are two ways of insulating your flue, either with vermiculite granules poured down to fill the gap between your liner and your chamber walls or insulated padded ‘jackets’ wrapped around your liner. This will make a difference to the draw on your liner, most notably on cold chimneys and those on external walls.
