Wood-Burning Stoves

If you’re looking for a wood-burning stove, look no further than Stove Serve. Wood stoves have top air controls to provide a top-down draught while your fuel is burnt on a solid floor. This enables you to scoop ash out of the firebox manually, leaving a layer in the bottom as wood sits well in an ash bed.

Multifuel Stoves

On the other hand, multifuel stoves usually have a grate, a separate ashpan, and sometimes an external riddler. This is because coal doesn’t burn well in a bonfire and may congeal into a quite unpleasant mess. With top and bottom air controls and the aforementioned accessories, these stoves are up to £150 more expensive than wood stoves but offer much more space for fuel and flames.

Stove Efficiency

When choosing your ideal stove, you must consider stove efficiency, which is based on how much of the heat energy produced ends up transferring to the room. Deciding on the right stove for your needs will depend on various factors, such as:

  • Age of Your Home
  • Size of Your Room
  • Number of Windows in the Room
  • Number of External Walls
  • Insulation in Your Room
  • Planning of Your Room, including Open Plan and Stairs

Most stove manufacturers measure stove size in kilowatts, (KW) and we provide free surveys that take all of the above measures into consideration before providing you with an accurate guide number. For a rough guide, measure your room in metres and then use the formula below:

Kw Output = Length (m) x Width (m) x Height (m) / 14

Replacing Gas Fires

When you take out a gas fire, you must remove the gas liner and replace it with a solid fuel liner of 316 or greater. Gas liner steel will not withstand the temperatures of a flue coming from a wood burner or solid fuel stove, which is why our experienced team carry out all removals and replacements to the highest possible standard.

Flue Insulation

There are two ways of insulating your flue, either with vermiculite granules poured down to fill the gap between your liner and your chamber walls or insulated padded ‘jackets’ wrapped around your liner. This will make a difference to the draw on your liner, most notably on cold chimneys and those on external walls.

HETAS-Certified Fitters

HETAS is the official body for certification of solid fuel appliances. As a HETAS-registered company, you can rest assured that our experienced installers know what they are doing. Paying close attention to your needs, we will complete all installations to the highest possible standard.

Dependable Installations

Stove installations usually take a day, but more extensive work, including removing old open fires, fireplaces, or gas fires, usually takes an extra day to allow for any re-building and plastering work required. Providing peace of mind and impeccable value for money, we offer a superior level of service for our valued customers.

Our business ethos is based on providing the very best product installations for your needs. Although other online stores provide cheaper services, we have vans, insurance, tools and parts, and a trained and knowledgeable team who will fit your stove safely and provide a great aftersales service.
